Woodburn School for the Fine and Communicative Arts
Dear Woodburn Families,
We hope you are well and finding joy this summer. It is hard to believe we will be starting school in just under a month! We are excited to return to five days of in-person learning and want to make sure you have all of the information you need.
The county has recently shared updated safety guidance. It can be found on the FCPS Return to School Safety webpage. We will be following all outlined guidelines and continue to make safety our number one priority.
We will be holding a community meeting on August 5 to review safety guidance and answer any questions you might have about our return to school plan. Please submit any questions you would like answered during this meeting using the form linked below. Spanish translation will be provided.

Kindergarten & 1st Grade Playdate - Date Change
We have had to change the date of our next kindergarten and first grade playdate. Please join us on August 3rd! Families are invited to visit the Fairmont Gardens playground from 10:00-11:00 am or join us at Woodburn from 2:00-3:00 pm. Students will play on the playground, enjoy popsicles and listen to a story. See you there!
Woodburn Community Meeting - August 5
We invite you to attend a virtual Woodburn community meeting on August 5 from 6:00-7:00 pm. Our meeting will focus on return to school plans, upcoming events, and safety practices. Please submit any questions you would like answered using the form linked below. Spanish translation will be provided.

Welcome Walk - August 19
We are excited to bring back our annual Welcome Walk event. On August 19, our teachers will visit homes and introduce themselves to their new students. Visits will occur between 10:00 and 12:00 pm. We hope you and your family will plan to be home during this time!
Open House - August 19
This year's Open House will be held on August 19 from 4:00-5:30 pm. Classroom teachers will share information that will ensure a successful start to the school year. Families are able to attend in-person or virtually. Classroom teachers will send a virtual meeting link prior to the event.
Safeway Foundation School Spirit Campaign
Woodburn Elementary School is partnering with Safeway Foundation and the Safeway store located at 7414 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA to raise funds to support our school projects and supplies.
During the month of August, you can show your school spirit by making a monetary donation at this Safeway location. All funds raised by Safeway Foundation and this store will be donated to Woodburn Elementary School.
